"Launching an online service for loan seekers is a good idea and it will start a pilot project here," Punjab National Bank, Executive Director, J.M. Garg, who also chairs the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) of Haryana, said here today.
Haryana Chief Secretary, Dharamvir today floated an idea of introducing online service for loan applicants. "With this service, loan seekers are not required to visit banks time and again. They would not have to go through the cumbersome process of knowing the status of their applications," he said while addressing the meeting of SLBC.
He called upon the banks to promote entrepreneurship among the students so as to tap young talent and encourage them to start their own ventures.
He also urged the banks to target students as their clientele so that when they start earning, they would later become their patronage. It would also inculcate the habit of cash management at an early age, he said.
The chief secretary said banks should provide ATM service in every branch whether located in urban or rural area to encourage the uneducated to use the technology, he added.
Meanwhile, total deposits of banks in Haryana increased from Rs 59,403 crore as of March 2007 to Rs 70,919 crore as at March 2008, showing a growth of 27 per cent.
Advances also increased by Rs 11,293 crore from Rs 37,254 crore to Rs. 48547 crore recording a growth of 30.31 per cent.
