Aug 01, 2008 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- TXT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Textron announced that it has named Peter Durette vice president, Strategy and Business Development, reporting to Textron Executive Vice President Mary L. Howell, effective September 1.

In the role, Durette will work with Textron's senior leadership and business units to develop strategies to drive continued growth and profitability across the organization. In this role, Durette will serve as an officer of the corporation, as well as become a member of Textron's Transformation Leadership Team (TLT), comprised of the company's top 21 executives.

Durette replaces Stuart Grief, who is assuming the position of senior vice president, Strategy and Business Integration at Textron Systems, reporting to Textron Systems President, Frank Tempesta.

"Pete is an exceptional talent, with vast expertise in driving value growth for global multi-industry companies," said Lewis B. Campbell, Textron chairman, president and CEO. "Pete will play a critical role as we advance our portfolio management efforts to deliver continued superior return to our shareholders."

"Under Stuart's leadership, Textron built a world-class value management capability; and as he moves into his new role at Textron Systems, we are fortunate to be bringing someone of Pete's caliber on board to further advance our efforts," said Mary Howell.

Durette joins Textron from strategic advisory firm Trinsum (formerly Marakon Associates), where he was a partner and head of the firm's talent base and infrastructure. During his more than decade long tenure with Trinsum, his client work spanned a variety of industries, most notably diversified industrials, private equity, aerospace & defense, consumer products, healthcare and financial services. In addition to advising client companies, including Textron, in the areas of corporate and business unit strategy and management process, Durette was also responsible for leading Trinsum's recruiting, development and retention programs and managed its overall infrastructure and cost base.

Textron is a $13.2 billion multi-industry company operating in 34 countries with approximately 44,000 employees. The company leverages its network of aircraft, defense and intelligence, industrial and finance businesses to provide customers with solutions and services.
