154th Reading Fair starts 6-day run today

Aug 04, 2008 (Reading Eagle - McClatchy-Tribune News Service via COMTEX) -- REFA | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Aug. 4--The 154th Reading Fair begins today and continues through Saturday at the Reading Fairgrounds at County Welfare and Hill Top roads in Bern Township.

Admission is $10 per person, with children 3 years and younger admitted free. The price includes unlimited rides, exhibits, judging and musical entertainment. Parking is free.

Hours on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are 4 to 10 p.m.

Hours on Wednesday and Saturday are 1 to 10 p.m.

Today 9 a.m .: Judging of baked goods, canned goods -- preserves, clothing, arts -- crafts, junior Grange displays, 4-H and FFA window displays, senior Grange displays, wine, field crops, floral exhibits, needlework, quilts, apple pie, chocolate cake, cookies and vegetable quick breads and honey 2 p.m .: Sheep to shawl contest 4 p.m .: Swine showmanship and fi tting 7 p.m .: Qualifying events on racetrack 7:30 p.m .: Jeff Krick, Elvis tribute 7:45 p.m .: Livestock judging contest

Tuesday , Senior Citizens Day 9 a.m .: Wool judging 10 a.m .: Sheep showmanship and fi tting 7 p.m .: Dairy fitting and showmanship 7 p.m .: Slingshot feature race and Go-Kart race 7:30 p.m .: The Sensational Soul Cruisers Show Band

Wednesday 9:30 a.m .: Holstein breed judging 1:30 p.m .: Colored breed judging 6:30 p.m .: Games 7 p.m .: Auto race 7:30 p.m .: The Legends (rock 'n' roll and comedy)

Thursday 10 a.m .: Dairy beef judging. 1 p.m .: 4-H and FFA steers open beef 7 p.m .: Monster truck and stunt show 7:30 p.m .: Towsend O'Donnell (country music) 7:45 p.m .: Adult and youth dairy judging 9 p.m .: Supreme champion dairy animal

Friday 6:30 p.m .: Corn cob contest. Games 7 p.m .: Animal Mardi Gras 7:30 p.m .: Rich Clare Pentagon band 7:30 p.m .: Redeye Rodeo 8 p.m .: Junior hay bale contest 8:30 p.m .: Senior hay bale contest 9:30 p.m .: Line dancing

Saturday 9 a.m .: Horse show Noon: Livestock exhibitors meeting 5 p.m .: Pedal power tractor pull 6:30 p.m .: Games 7 p.m .: Corn shelling contest 7 p.m .: Demolition derby 7:30 p.m .: Log sawing 7:30 p.m .: Uptown Band 9 p.m .: Fireworks
