The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters was for earnings of 35 cents a share.
Revenue for the company rose 9% to $3.05 billion, above the $2.94 billion analyst estimate.
In the year-ago period, the company reported income from continuing operations of $140 million, or 25 cents a share, on revenue of $2.79 billion. Adjusted earnings were 35 cents a share in the second quarter of 2007.
