California Pizza Kitchen Q2 net income increases

Aug 08, 2008 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- CPKI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- California Pizza Kitchen, a casual dining restaurant chain, has reported that net income was $6.6 million, or $0.26 per diluted share, for the second quarter ended June 29, 2008, compared to $6.3 million, or $0.21 per diluted share, for the same period of 2007.

For the second quarter ended June 29, 2008, total revenues grew approximately 11.3% to $176.6 million from $156.6 million for the same period of 2007. Comparable restaurant sales increased 1.4%.

For the six months ended June 29, 2008, total revenues were $341.34 million, compared to $307.94 million for the same period of 2007. Net income was $9 million, or $0.34 per diluted share, compared to $9.9 million, or $0.33 per diluted share, for the first half of 2007.

Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax, co-CEOs of California Pizza Kitchen, said: "We are very pleased with our second quarter performance which was driven by the success of our Thank You Card Program, continued growth from ancillary revenue streams, and efficiencies gained through operational discipline and expense controls."
