BRIEF: Bed Bath & Beyond to open in Paso Robles next year

Aug 08, 2008 (The Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune News Service via COMTEX) -- BBBY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Aug. 8--Bed Bath & Beyond, the popular housewares retailer, is planning to open a store in Paso Robles, a company spokeswoman said Friday.

The retailer has not yet released the location of the new, 26,000-square-foot store, spokeswoman Catherine Gentile said. It is slated to open next spring.

The store would be the second location in San Luis Obispo County. The retailer operates another outlet in Madonna Plaza in San Luis Obispo.

The chain was founded in 1971 and has since expanded to more than 800 locations nationwide, according to the company. Stores generally range from 23,000 to 50,000 square feet, with some outlets exceeding 80,000 square feet.
