The announcement was made during visit of Dr K Ina, Senior Managing Director, Toyota Motor Corporation, to review IMC production plant and on-going projects of Company. IMC embarked on long term strategy to enhance in-house manufacturing, increased localization, and production efficiency improvement. Dr Ina inaugurated Line Off Ceremony that marks start of production for New Generation Corolla in Pakistan, to be launched towards end of August.
Pakistan has highest sales of Corolla in Asia, Oceania and Middle East Region, stated Dr Ina. The new model is a modern, young, very stylish car, embodying traditional Toyota DNA of Quality, Reliability and Durability.
He praised skills of Indus Team on achieving milestone of over 50,000 vehicle sales in last fiscal year and appreciated company for increasing production capacity to meet growing demand for its vehicles. He reiterated Toyotas commitment and support to IMC for further extending production facilities. Toyota Motor Corporation recently increased its equality in IMC from 12.5 percent to 25 percent.
Dr Ina also inaugurated 2000 ton in-house Hydraulic Press which is also largest in Pakistans auto industry, for production of body parts for New Generation Corolla.
Ali S Habib, Chairman, Indus Motor Company lauded Toyota Motor Corporations role in supporting Indus Motor, both in becoming a major automobile manufacturer as well as significant contributor to economy of Pakistan.
