Oracle Real Application Clusters and Oracle Enterprise Linux over Mellanox InfiniBand solutions utilize the second generation, open source Reliable Datagram Sockets (RDS) protocol which was developed within OpenFabrics by Oracle, Mellanox and other community members.
Oracle Enterprise Linux is a key component of the Oracle Unbreakable Linux support program, which provides enterprise-class support for Linux. Available as open source, Oracle Enterprise Linux is fully compatible-both source and binary-with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Oracle Enterprise Linux can also be freely distributed, enabling partners to easily create low-cost solutions for their users. The Oracle Unbreakable Linux support program has been adopted by more than 2,000 organizations.
"RDS, available as part of the OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution (OFED), with Mellanox InfiniBand adapters, deliver 50 percent faster block throughput and half the latency, while consuming half the CPU processing cycles," said Wayne Augsburger, vice president of business development at Mellanox Technologies. "When used with Mellanox InfiniBand adapters, both scalability and price-performance are significantly enhanced."
"Certification of Oracle Real Application Clusters and Oracle Enterprise Linux with Mellanox solutions further strengthens Oracle's Unbreakable Linux Support Program," said Juan Loaiza, Senior Vice President, Oracle. "Teaming with Mellanox enables users to deploy high-performance, cost-effective Linux-based grid solutions leveraging the benefits of InfiniBand."
Mellanox is a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork.
