Lehman Trikes proudly announces that Jon Brough of Belleville, IL is the 2008 Good Turn Trike recipient. Jon and his wife Wendy had their world changed forever on November 10, 2006 when Jon, a police officer, was shot in the face with a 12-gauge shotgun. Jon's survival was uncertain and, in addition to losing his sight, much of his face had to be surgically reconstructed. Jon still has numerous surgeries in his future; but, he doesn't let that effect the way he lives his life. He is bright, funny and still fulfills numerous speaking engagements every year. Jon is one of those rare, unique, and brave individuals who risked his life and paid a high price while serving as a police officer.
The Good Turn Trike is an annual program sponsored by Lehman Trikes that converts the recipient's motorcycle into a trike. The recipient normally can no longer ride a two-wheeled motorcycle due to an injury and/or illness. Annually, applications for the program are accepted by Lehman Trikes until the first week of April. Applications are available at Lehman dealers and Lehman Trikes website, www.lehmantrikes.com. Applications are reviewed by an anonymous panel and a recipient is then selected.
Niehaus Cycle Sales, Inc. in Litchfield, IL, an authorized Lehman Trike dealer, is doing the conversion on Jon's new black 2008 Honda GL1800 Gold Wing. The new motorcycle was purchased with funds collected by the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Inc. and specifically through the hard work of Illinois Chapter 14. Jon and Wendy will take possession of the trike on August 23, 2008 at a celebration ceremony at Niehaus Cycle Sales, Inc. Wendy will be driving the trike once it is completed and she and Jon look forward to riding many miles together.
