Progressive Corporation declares financial results for July

Aug 14, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- PGR | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- The Progressive Corporation (NYSE: PGR), a provider of personal and commercial automobile insurance and other speciality property-casualty insurance products and related services, declared on 13 August its financial results for July 2008. Net premiums written were USD1.384bn in July 2008, stable as compared to USD1.390bn in July 2007. Net premiums earned amounted to USD1.314bn in July 2008 as against USD1.338bn in 2007.

The net income was USD81.8m (USD0.12 per share), down from USD118.5m (USD0.16 per share) in July 2007.
