The airline reported a 1.4% yearly drop in passenger load factor of 75.1% in July. Other airlines are also believed to be faced with losses in major operations.
Compared with high oil prices, the sluggish demand strikes the industry more seriously. In addition, the macro economy will bring uncertainties this year and next year.
The soaring oil prices are expected to cost the industry worldwide USD 92 billion more this year than the USD 136 billion last year. The international aviation oil prices surged 74% in the first half of 2008 and China reported a 12.3% increase.
The domestic civil aviation industry in China saw the first yearly decline in June, with freight turnover dropping 0.8% to 321,500 tons and passenger turnover dropping 3.8% to 14 million.
