According to company officials, BBC will deploy Scopus' UE-9420 dense encoders for transmission of video feeds from the Olympics to its London offices for the logging of scores and statistics used for monitoring purpose.
Scopus said it was selected following a thorough selection process for the best match of BBC's specific requirement for high video quality at low bit rates. The UE - 9420 is able to distinguish granular picture details, and offers two H.264 channels in a 1-RU chassis. The UE-9420 IP output unique design enables BBC to transmit its feeds over an IP infrastructure across continents.
"The BBC's choice of our encoder platform recognizes the excellent performance that our solutions provide," said David Shamir, encoder product marketing manager at Scopus. "We take pride in our ability to meet client requirements for a demanding event such as the Olympic Games with reliable, high-quality video encoding solutions."
