Sierra Wireless announces availability of USB modem in Switzerland through Swisscom

Aug 20, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- SWIR | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Sierra Wireless (Nasdaq:SWIR) (TSX: SW), a provider of modems and software for mobile broadband networks, and Swisscom, a telecomms provider based in Switzerland, announced on Tuesday (19 August) the availability of the Sierra Wireless Compass 885 USB Modem to customers in Switzerland through Swisscom. The Compass 885 USB modem will offer Swisscom customers mobile broadband connectivity on the go. It reportedly has a fast, simple installation, a sleek and durable USB design, and the latest 3G wireless technology for optimal data speeds.

It also offers users the ability to roam globally, with tri-band HSPA/UMTS support and quad-band GSM/EDGE support, making it compatible with networks in most countries around the world.

The USB modem will be sold under the brand name 'Unlimited USB Modem 885', and is immediately available for CHF1.00, upon conclusion of a new subscription NATEL data basic + Data Option 1.5 GB for 24 months, through Swisscom shops, the company's Web shop at http://www.swisscom.ch, and other third party channels.

The price of the USB modem without the contract is CHF299.00.
