The company said that the results from continuing operations for the quarter and fiscal year-to-date period are based on The Children's Place business only. The Disney Store North America (DSNA) business has been classified as a discontinued operation, reflecting the company's exit of the business.
Net sales for the quarter were up by 16% to USD338.0m, as compared with USD290.5m in the second quarter of the prior year. Net sales for the year-to-date period were up by 14% to USD738.2m, as compared with USD646.5m in the corresponding year-to-date period of the prior year.
The company said that comparable store sales increased by 9% in the quarter, and by 7% in the year-to-date period.
Net income for the quarter was breakeven, an improvement over a net loss of USD28.1m or USD0.97 per share in the second quarter of the prior year.
Net income for the year-to-date period was USD19.5m or USD0.66 per share, as compared with a net loss of USD13.4m or USD0.46 per share in the corresponding year-to-date period of the prior year.
