ST. PAUL, Minn., Aug 22, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- LWSN | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) today announced that the city of Santa Ana, Calif. licensed the Lawson S3 Enterprise Financial Management and Supply Chain Management Suites, the Lawson Human Resource Management Suite and Lawson Business Intelligence to help the city simplify financial reporting and eliminate manual processes. The contract was signed during Lawson's fourth quarter of fiscal 2008, which ended May 31, 2008.

Santa Ana is the financial and governmental center of Orange County, and is the ninth largest city in California. The Lawson applications will replace the city's legacy business system, which requires significant duplicate data entry and paper-based processes to complete many of the city's administrative activities. Lawson Professional Services will provide implementation services for the project rollout.

"We chose the Lawson system based on its flexibility, ease-of-use and local government-specific functionality," said Pamela Arends-King, assistant director of finance for the city of Santa Ana. "The unified Lawson system will help us minimize our administrative costs and streamline processes so we can focus on serving our community."

The city of Santa Ana will use the Lawson applications to help simplify financial reporting. For example, the Lawson system will help the city create timely, accurate reports for city administrators by automating formerly manual processes, such as those associated with purchasing, budgeting and personnel transactions. The consolidated Lawson system will provide tools to help city employees more accurately track spending against budgets and streamline the purchase approval process.

Lawson e-Recruiting will help the city streamline its recruiting process, reducing the time to hire through its automated candidate scoring and enhanced relationship management functionality. The city will also use this functionality to give job applicants a better view into the positions that are open at any given time.

"Cities like Santa Ana can benefit from adopting enterprise business software that can help them automate processes and empower employees," said Alex Kaplan, services director, Public Sector, Lawson. "We help local governments simplify administration and reduce operational costs so they can continue to focus more resources on their public service missions."

Lawson serves more than 140 public sector customers, including three of the top seven digital state governments and four of the 25 largest school districts in the United States. State governments, cities, counties, school districts, publicly owned utilities/authorities and special districts rely on Lawson solutions to help meet the needs of a variety of stakeholders, including constituents, employees, students, vendors and communities, while helping to maximize limited budgets.
