A 30-year veteran of the insurance industry, Mahler takes up the newly created post and will report to John Glancy, the company's chief underwriting officer. Mahler will head up XL Insurance's global underwriting, product development and regulatory efforts.
In the past, Mahler served as chief underwriting officer with the London-based insurer Royal & Sun Alliance, and has worked in underwriting with numerous mutual insurers.
