An hour later, two more people on a motorcycle were injured when they hit the victim's motorcycle. State police said Milton A. Gagnon Jr., 38, of 234 Wauregan Road, was driving his 2001 Harley-Davidson east on Route 6 at about 2:50 p.m., when he lost control and struck the metal guardrail off the right shoulder of the road.
Gagnon was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in a wooded embankment, according to the accident summary. State police said Gagnon was not wearing a helmet, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
While state police investigated the accident, another motorcycle crashed into Gagnon's, which was still in the travel lane.
A 2007 Harley-Davidson driven by Eric Chyung, 45, of Westport, hit Gagnon's Harley about 3:50 p.m., state police said. Chyung and his passenger, Paige Bennett, 45, of East Killingly, were taken to William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich for minor injuries.
According to the accident summary, Chyung and Bennett were not wearing helmets.
