Onstream Media's Visual Webcaster to support Microsoft Silverlight

Aug 25, 2008 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- ONSM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Onstream Media Corporation (Nasdaq:ONSM), an online service provider of live and on-demand Internet video, corporate web communications and content management applications, announced on Friday (22 August) that its Visual Webcaster platform will support Microsoft Silverlight, effective with the next version of Visual Webcaster scheduled for release in October 2008.

Silverlight is understood to be a cross-browser, cross-platform and cross-device plug-in for delivering rich interactive applications for the web.

Onstream said it is integrating the Silverlight technology with its Visual Webcaster platform, which already supports Windows Media, Real Media, QuickTime and Flash. Silverlight adds the functionality of making the webcasts compatible with virtually any online device, including Apple based products and all PC based systems.

In addition, Microsoft technology will be integrated into the company's Media's Digital Media Services Platform.
