Assurant Names New Compliance Chief

NEW YORK, Aug 27, 2008 (A. M. Best via COMTEX) -- AIZ | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Assurant Inc. has named Jay Cohen senior vice president and chief compliance officer.

Cohen, 56, will head up the New York-based specialty insurer's domestic and international regulatory and compliance efforts, and will report to Bart Schwartz, executive vice president and chief legal officer for the company.

A 30-year veteran of the legal and financial industries, Cohen, 56, comes most recently from a post as the global compliance leader and chief privacy officer for the Short Hills, N.J.-based Dun & Bradstreet Corp. In the past, he has led compliance teams with Oxford Health Plans and Prudential Financial Inc.

Assurant Inc. is a specialty insurer operating in North America and abroad.
