It said the RE3 750GB and 1TB drives combine 32MB cache and enhanced vibration and shock tolerance, and offer 1.2 million hours mean time between failures, native command queuing, time limited error recovery, and testing process.
Other features include StableTrac, dual processor, RAFF technology, third-generation dynamic fly height, thermal extended burn-in test, and NoTouch ramp load technology.
The company said the drives can increase performance by approximately 20% and as much as 60% in high-vibration environments. The release follows the company's launch last month of a 2.5-inch 10,000 RPM SATA hard drive for blade servers and 1U and 2U rack servers.
Tom McDorman, vice president and general manager of enterprise storage solutions at WD, said: "WD continues to offer enterprise customers the best combination of features, optimum performance, and superior reliability."
The WD RE3 1TB and the 750GB hard drives cost $249 and $199, respectively.
