Netease Launches Online Translation Service

SHENZHEN, Aug 28, 2008 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- NTES | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- News from Netease.com shows that the Internet portal and cyber game vendor has launched the beta version of its online translation service through its translation subsidiary Youdao.com.

The translation service of Netease came shortly after Internet search service giants Baidu and Google launched their online translation services in July this year.

Youdao has accumulated more than 5 million users in merely six months based on its desktop translation software. Now it is sparing no efforts to extend its reach to the online translation sector.

With the participation of Netease, the competition among the three giants in the online translation market will be getting fiercer.

As for Google, it hopes its search-engine-based online translation service will make it possible for Internet users around the world to realize globalization and unobstructed communications.

In early July, Google also adjusted the style of the main page of its Chinese website by replacing the Rebang with translation service.
