The annual MED Week Conference is the largest federally sponsored conference held on behalf of the minority business enterprise community. MBDA, the only federal agency created to foster the establishment and growth of minority-owned businesses in America, organizes the event in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration and other partners to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of minority business owners and advocates, including corporations and financial institutions that support minority business development. The conference also provides a venue to discuss critical business issues and strategies to foster the growth and competitiveness of the minority business community.
Dr. Papadopoulos' keynote address supports the conference theme "The Power of Strategic Alliances in the Global Economy." At Sun Microsystems, Inc., Dr. Papadopoulos knows that collaboration and building coalitions helps make everyone successful. He's also not averse to taking risks, knowing that sometimes a hard decision has to be made in order to reach success.
"Sun Microsystems is built on, and passionate about, supporting collaborative communities," said Dr. Papadopoulos, "The theme of this year's conference mirrors our commitment. I am particularly honored to participate at this important event and look forward to sharing my thoughts on how communities around the world can effectively tap the power of the network to grow and succeed."
Mr. Ronald N. Langston, MBDA's National Director stated "Dr. Papadopoulos brings invaluable experience and expertise to the 26th annual MED Week. It is undeniable that he has had an impressive impact as Chief Technology Officer at Sun Microsystems, Inc. With more than 20 years experience in the technology industry and an eye toward innovation, simplicity and eco-responsibility, Dr. Papadopoulos will be able to share his vast experience in building collaborative and innovative teams and will, without a doubt, inspire attendees."
MED Week will be held from September 3 - 5 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. Senior policy makers, academicians, minority entrepreneurs and corporate leaders will guide attendees in the best ways to navigate increasingly vital, international markets through innovation, collaboration and coalition building.
MBDA's top level sponsors include Dell, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Raytheon Company, Chrysler, and the publishers of Black EOE Journal, Hispanic Network Magazine, and Professional Women's Magazine.
