"This speech is history in the making and will be watched by millions -- it's so much better fun if you can have a flutter too," Power said in a news release this week that announced he was giving odds on what cliche or phrase Obama will use first in his speech.
American political junkies will wish they could get in on the action, as "Time for change" is leading the early field at 10-to-1 odds. Some other predictable phrases are "Crossroads of history" (16-to-1); "We cannot lose hope" (25-to-1); and so on until Power offers some long-shot speech killers such as "Life is like a bowl of cherries" (250 to 1).
And the betting doesn't stop there. Gamblers can also bet on what color tie Obama will be wearing (he seems to favor blue) and how many times he takes a sip of water during the speech.
