Mumbai, Aug 28, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- SI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Siemens today said it has inaugurated its greenfield high voltage instrument transformer factory at Waluj in Maharashtra's Aurangabad district.

The unit would manufacture a range of instrument transformers which are used to convert high current or voltage to measurable values.

"Instrument transformers are an important component of high-voltage substations, accounting for 8-10 per cent of switchyard's total cost," Siemens Managing Director Armin Bruck said in a statement.

The factory has been set up at an investment of Rs 25 crore and is spread over 4,500 sq m, it said.

It would provide direct employment to 100 persons and indirect employment to another 300, the statement added.
