Vestel and DivX announce plans for set top box

Aug 29, 2008 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- DIVX | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- DivX Inc (NASDAQ:DIVX), a digital media company, has announced with Vestel AS, an original design manufacturer for consumer electronics and a producer of set-top box (STB) solutions for the European market, plans to release a new STB from Vestel which will support DivX video.

The t5000 STB is now in the process of being certified by DivX and is, according to the companies, the first STB with DivX capability to be announced for the European market

The new STB enables customers to play back DivX video that has been stored on USB flash drives and will be capable of being updated to full DivX compatibility through a firmware field upgrade.

Pricing and availability details for the t5000 set top box have not yet been reported.
