Bruised by runaway materials prices, the automaker will pass on higher costs to end-users through hikes on vehicles using large amounts of steel. But it will not raise passenger car prices, because rival Toyota Motor Corp. (7203) has bumped up its own prices for only several offerings, including hybrids.
The hikes are Nissan's first on commercial vehicles in roughly 16 years.
The Atlas H43 small truck will see its price raised 70,000 yen, or 1.7 per cent. The AD/AD Expert commercial van will go up 35,000 yen, or 2.7 per cent. And the Caravan will climb 30,000 yen, or 1.6 per cent, while the Vanette will be hit with a hike of 50,000 yen, or 2.9 per cent.
