DuPont India moves into photovoltaic market

Sep 01, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- DD | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- DuPont India (Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh), a subsidiary of E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Company (NYSE:DD) (Wilmington, Delaware) has announced the launch of DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions (DPVS) in India's photovoltaic market.

The new marketing unit will focus on generating revenue worth USD1bn by 2012.

DPVS, which is a new business initiative, will function as the marketing unit of DuPont's solar power products and provide technical assistance to customers in the Indian market.

India's government has reportedly received proposals aggregating USD20bn from Tata BP Solar (Bangalore, Karnataka), Reliance Industries Limited (Mumbai), and Videocon Industries Limited (BOM:511389) (Aurangabad, Maharashtra) for investment in the domestic solar photovoltaic industry.
