BALTIMORE, Sep 04, 2008 (ASCRIBE NEWS via COMTEX) -- TSCCD | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Avnet has announced Greg Frazier as executive vice president, Business Innovation.

In the new role, Frazier will be responsible for driving profitable growth through structured business innovation for both of Avnet's operating groups and will report jointly to the leaders of each group: Harley Feldberg, president, Avnet Electronics Marketing, and John Paget, president, Avnet Technology Solutions.

Frazier will collaborate with Avnet's business leaders to help them harness the power of innovation and expand Avnet's value to its customers and suppliers. He is also tasked with the analysis and coordination of customer and market opportunities and synergies that extend across both of Avnet's operating groups.

Frazier joined Avnet in 1977 and later created Avnet's strategic account organization, focusing on the distribution needs of the Fortune 500's top 50 electronics companies. The success of that organization led to the formation of Avnet's value-added services unit. He later established Avnet's Integrated Material Services (IMS) business, which focuses on supply chain management, and served as its president.

As a 30-year industry veteran, Frazier is a recognized expert and visionary in global electronics supply chain management. He was named executive vice president of Supply Chain Business Development for Avnet Electronics Marketing, Global, in 2004, and he will maintain that role in addition to his new responsibilities.

"From our early days as a North American electronic components distributor to our current position as a global value-added solutions provider, Avnet has maintained a longstanding commitment to innovation," said Feldberg. "Today, the Avnet market landscape is more competitive than ever. Our partners' needs are constantly evolving. Although Avnet is well positioned to take advantage of these realities, having a commitment to - and focus on - innovation has never been more critical. Greg's new role will help us find new ways to drive profitable growth for Avnet, our customers and our suppliers."

"Given Greg's history, knowledge and experience in global supply chain solutions, there is a tremendous opportunity for sharing strategies and best practices across operating groups," added Paget. "Greg has been a passionate champion of new concepts and has been at the forefront of delivering supply chain innovation within Avnet and to our industry. He is well-suited to take on the role of promoting business innovation across Avnet and catapult us to new heights."
