PowerRating -- Sep. 6--US Airways will introduce point-of-sale devices aboard flights beginning in October so that passengers can use credit and debit cards to pay for beverages and meals, the airline said Friday. The carrier began charging $2 for soda, bottled water, juices and coffee on domestic flights on Aug. 1. The additional money-handling led the Association of Flight Attendants to complain that US Airways was turning attendants into "cashiers" to gather extra revenue. US Airways will acquire 860 hand-held devices, which received "positive feedback" from flight attendants who tested them. Passengers will still be able to pay with cash.
