As J.D. Power defines it, the study looks at "owner delight with the design, content, layout and performance of their new vehicles."
A total of 4,255 people responded to a May mail-in survey that targeted purchasers of a new minicar within the past two to seven months.
Of the 38 minicar models made by seven automakers, the Daihatsu Tanto scored highest with its roomy interior and user-friendliness. The i from Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TSE:7211) ranked second for its exterior design, while third place was shared by the Palette from Suzuki Motor Corp. (TSE:7269) and the Zest from Honda Motor Co. (TSE:7267). The Daihatsu Move came out on top in last year's APEAL study for minicars.
