It recently reported a 19% decline in second-quarter net profit to $215m. It also shed nearly 1,000 employees, mostly in North America, as part of a restructuring.

The company has named James Firestone as president of corporate operations. He will be responsible for research, strategy, information management, HR and ethics, Fuji Xerox relations, and marketing and communications. Prior to his new role, he was president of Xerox North America, and chief strategist.

Doug Lord will lead the company's North American Solutions Group. He previously served as president of Xerox Canada and US sales group.

Russell Peacock will lead the North American Channels Group, including partnerships with agents, resellers, distributors, and Xerox subsidiary Global Imaging Systems. Peacock was previously president of Xerox Office Group, and managing director of Xerox United Kingdom.

Rick Dastin will head the Xerox Office Group. Prior to his new role, Dastin led the engineering and product delivery of Xerox A3 multifunction systems as well as controller software for the Xerox Office Group.

Anne Mulcahy, chairman and chief executive at Xerox, said: "James Firestone's exceptional strategic insights, diverse experience, and deep industry knowledge are ideally suited for this new role, to better integrate core corporate functions that support our enterprise worldwide. We are also realigning our North American operations by increasing organizational support while continuing to strengthen global and major US account relationships."
