VIASPACE Inc announces grant of fuel cell patent licensed by its subsidiary in Europe

PowerRating -- VIASPACE Inc (OTC BB: VSPC.OB), which commercialises space and defence
technologies from NASA and the department of defence into hardware and
software products and applications, revealed on 8 September that patent
EP 0 755 576 B1 for an organic fuel cell and methods of operation and
methods of manufacture thereof, licensed from Caltech and the
University of Southern California by VIASPACE subsidiary, Direct
Methanol Fuel Cell Corporation (DMFCC), has been granted in Europe,
specifically Germany, Spain, France, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands
and Sweden.
DMFCC's fuel cells cartridges offer longer operating time as compared
to current lithium ion batteries and may be recharged instantly by
simply replacing the disposable fuel cartridge and are therefore are in
a position to gain a market share of a USD3bn projected industry volume
in portable electronics.
OEMs have announced that direct methanol fuel cells for portable
electronic applications are being developed.
