Lieutenant Colonel Gary Pelletier of the 115th Fighter Wing with the Air Force National Guard presented the ESGR award to Zebra CEO Anders Gustafsson in a ceremony at Zebra's Vernon Hills headquarters on Wednesday, August 27th.
Zebra was recommended for the award by Air National Guardsman and Zebra employee Todd O'Toole in recognition of the excellent support he and others received while deployed to active service. O'Toole returned in April from a tour in Iraq and continues to serve in the 115th Fighter Wing with the Air Force National Guard.
"We are honored to receive the ESGR Patriot award for Zebra's commitment to our employees serving in the Guard and Reserves," said Gustafsson. "Whether our employees are serving the community or serving their country, we support those who give of their time and effort to greater causes, and we are proud to be recognized for our commitment to them."
"The Guard and Reserve forces spend more time away from their employers than ever before, taking a huge toll on U.S. employers," said Pelletier. "Zebra has gone above and beyond in its support of these reservists, and we are pleased to recognize them as a patriotic employer."
The U. S. Representative Mark Kirk, who is in his fourth term representing the 10th Congressional District of Illinois, attended the award ceremony, expressing his support of Zebra and the ESGR organization. A Naval Reserve intelligence officer who served during conflicts in Iraq, Haiti, and Bosnia, Kirk continues to serve one weekend a month at the Pentagon.
