Western Union Foundation, GraceKennedy Donate $50,000 to Jamaica

Several schools were severely damaged by the storm delaying the start of the new school year, and this donation will help United Way of Jamaica refurbish schools for students affected throughout the Island.

"As a Caribbean company whose roots are entrenched in Jamaica, it is important for us to give back to our community in this time of need," said Joan-Marie Powell, managing director of GraceKennedy Remittance Services. "GraceKennedy and Western Union have always been there for the people of Jamaica, and this is just one more example of our strong partnership and commitment to social responsibility in our country."

This joint donation was made possible through the Western Union Foundation's Agent Giving Circle Program, which matches Western Union Agent donations dollar for dollar.

Western Union's Our World, Our Family program, together with the donations of Western Union Agents, has recently provided relief donations in Belize, Haiti and Jamaica totaling US$175,000.
