Western Union Foundation gives CARE an donation of USD25,000

Sep 15, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- WU | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Western Union Foundation, the arm that creates economic opportunity, of the Western Union (NYSE: WU), a provider of a range of money transfer and bill payment services, said on 12 September that in order for CARE to help the relief efforts after the storms that have recently affected Haiti, the Foundation has donated USD25,000 to it. CARE's Haiti country director, Sophie Perez comments that the priority is to reach the most vulnerable people, including women, children and people living with HIV and AIDS. So CARE's priority is to provide safe water to residents in Haiti and take emergency food supplies to affected communities. The Our World, Our Family programme of Western Union, has provided relief donations in Belize, Haiti and Jamaica, amounting to USD175,000, together with the contributions of Western Union Agents. This is a five-year initiative for migrant families to get educated and empowered to take advantage of global economic opportunity programmes that help them overcome obstacles and achieve what their desires.
