The power company under the aegis of CLP Group is discussing with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) over carrying out an energy cooperative memo newly inked between Mainland China and Hong Kong.
In terms of the memo, the governments of both sides reached a consensus on continuous supply of nuclear power and natural gas by the Mainland to Hong Kong within 20 years.
With the support of the mainland government, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC) will renew a 20-year electricity supply agreement with Hong Kong, and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), the largest Chinese offshore oil and gas producer, will sustain gas supply for the same period of time.
The two parties will also conduct feasibility study in accordance with gas supply through the No. 2 West-East Gas Pipeline, and construct LNG receiving terminals in both the Mainland and Hong Kong.
