PowerRating -- Blue Coat Systems Inc (Nasdaq: BCSI), which provides intelligent
hardware appliances and software that secure and accelerate the
delivery of business applications and other information over a wide
area network (WAN) or the public Internet, revealed yesterday (15
September) that to protect customers from rapidly spreading web-based
threats, it has increased the frequency of updates from the Blue Coat
WebPulse service to the Blue Coat ProxySG appliances from 20 minutes to
every five minutes.
WebPulse updates Blue Coat WebFilter continuously with detected malware
hosts and new content ratings based on inputs from ProxySG appliances,
ProxyClient and K9 Web Protection, the company's free web-based
security service for families and individuals.
ProxySG appliances can recognize and block malware hosts and attempted
attacks faster with faster update cycles that have been identified by
the Blue Coat WebPulse service. Blue Coat ProxySG appliances utilise
hybrid web gateway architecture, providing five layers of defence to
defend the Internet gateway against threats that are increasingly
moving to the web, effectively.
