Google ranked the second with its market share at 22 percent, and Sogou, the market share of which was 2.9 percent, exceeded Yahoo! to take the third place.

In Beijing and Shanghai, Baidu's market share dropped by 2.5 and 1. 2 percentage points, respectively, while in Guangzhou, it increased by 2.2 percentage points.
On the contrary, Google's market share went up 2.7 and 0.6 percentage points, respectively, in Beijing and Shanghai, and declined 5.3 percentage points in Guangzhou.
The survey also covered other websites besides search engines. Sina.com (SINA.NASDAQ) became the most popular website, as 35.1 percent interviewees said that they often visited the web portal. It was followed by NetEase.com (NTES.NASDAQ) and Sohu.com (SOHU.NASDAQ).
According to the survey, netizens in Beijing were more likely to visit Sina and Sohu, while those in Guangzhou preferred NetEase.
The survey, adopting the computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) method, gathered 4,150 effective samples, covering 18 major cities in China.
