Reportedly, this newly identified lead compound is part of a programme, which is being evaluated as a potential treatment for inflammatory pain, and is the sixth lead compound identified through the collaboration.
The company received a USD500,000 milestone payment from GSK in connection with the identification of the sixth lead compound.
Pharmacopeia, to date, has received a total of USD18m from GSK in connection with the alliance. Pharmacopeia is entitled to success-based milestone payments totalling up to USD83m per programme and potentially double-digit royalties on the sales of any product commercialised by GSK under the multi-program alliance.
The CEEDD (Center of Excellence for External Drug Discovery) was formed as further validation of GSK's strategy to create small, independent and accountable R&D teams.
