The appliances, each delivered pre-configured with storage, management software and VMware virtualisation to support between 10 and 25 workloads, can be clustered under the control of management software for implementation in large enterprises if required. The latest version includes support for 64-bit Windows workloads.
PlateSpin said that Forge appliances offer the ability to save data with multiple recovery points and restore workloads to local or remote hardware, offering customers the ability to restore operations off-site in the event of a site disaster.
Customers have the flexibility to purchase a 10 workload recovery appliance and then purchase additional protection to a maximum of 25 workloads. Organisations can also choose appliance models with local storage or opt to leverage existing SAN storage for the recovery environment. PlateSpin did not disclose pricing details.
