GE's exhibits and technology include Jenbacher gas engine, coal gasification technology and power plant optimization and control technology.
"Shanxi with abundant resources needs to make rational use of resources and protect its environment, and this is why we are optimistic about the market here", said Jack Wen, president of GE Energy China.
China's fast energy industrial development along with increasing environmental issues has aroused GE attention.
This poses not only grave challenges but also opportunities, especially in the areas of renewable energy, clean coal technology and environmental protection, said an official with GE.
In fact, GE Energy China is becoming a strong regional unit of GE. It has set up branches in many Chinese cities and recruited a large number of engineers, procurement and service professionals.
It has also formed a specialized R&D team in energy sector.
Up to now, GE Energy has provided China 240 gas turbine engines, 70 steam turbine engines, 307 water turbine engines, 300 wind turbines plus wind generation units with capacity reaching 750,000 kW.
The annual Taiyuan International Coal & Energy New Industry Expo, sponsored by Shanxi, provides a good platform for communication between local and foreign enterprises.
As a diversified international company, GE looks to expand cooperation with Shanxi in the future, said Wen.
