ExelTech Aerospace Inc. ("ExelTech Aerospace", "ExelTech" or the "Company"), (TSX-V: XLT), Canada's largest publicly-listed commercial aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul organization, today announced that Republic Airways has become the launch customer for the Company's new EJET 170/190 heavy maintenance product offering.
ExelTech will perform heavy maintenance, including major structural inspections and modifications, on up to 15 aircraft operated by Republic's Shuttle America Airlines and Republic Airlines subsidiary by the end of this year. All of this work will be performed at the Company's new Montreal facility, beginning in September 2008.
This new work builds on a relationship established in December 2007, when ExelTech began weight upgrade modifications and systems upgrades on 15 ERJ 145 aircraft.
"We are happy to expand our relationship with ExelTech" stated Wayne C. Heller, Executive Vice President & COO, Republic Airways. "Their continued demonstration of quality of workmanship, cost controls and reduced turn times have made them an important value added partner to our Company."
According to Donald Kamenz, Vice President, Marketing and Sales, ExelTech Aerospace, this expanded work and entry into this new product is a significant move for us; "We trained and acquired tooling for the EJET 170/190 aircraft types this summer and have now entered into the E170 heavy maintenance market by winning a launch contract from Republic Airways, one of the most respected regional carriers in the industry; By adding the E170 and concurrently the E190 to our portfolio, we now offer maintenance support for the six most widely utilized regional aircraft types, including the Embraer 145 family; the Bombardier CRJ regional jet; the ATR; Bombardier Dash 8; and Saab 340 turboprop families. Our new facilities allow us to offer our maintenance services on up to 16 lines of HMV work."
