The two parties will study independent intellectual property programs, such as parallel and distributed arithmetic, as well as massive data management technology. Research results are expected to turn into products.
The lab is made up with engineers from Baidu, and teachers and students from Nankai University. It currently has six PhDs, and 19 Masters. The scale of the lab will expand as research programs increase.
According to Baidu's plan, the company will set up four to five joint labs with universities in China in a year, to reinforce cooperation with schools in the fields of education and research.
