"It seemed entirely natural to expand our commitment to encourage the development of young, Canadian hockey players by supporting a team as prestigious as the Québec City Remparts," remarked Anne-Marie LaBerge, Vice-President, Communications Marketing for TELUS in Québec. "Passion for hockey is at the heart of Québec culture, and the Remparts fans are among the most devoted junior hockey fans in the whole country. It is therefore with great pride that TELUS is standing beside the Remparts on behalf of our 5,000 employees in Québec, our customers and all those who will be attending the local games or watching them live on the Internet."
Keep in mind that Remparts games, like all those of the QMJHL, may be viewed free of charge, live or delayed, on telus.com/lhjmq. Québec City Remparts ring tones and derivative images are available exclusively to TELUS wireless subscribers.
"This agreement with TELUS represents a one-of-a-kind opportunity to strengthen our brand and expand the influence of junior hockey, while providing a quality product to faithful Remparts fans wherever they may be," said Claude Rousseau, President of the Québec City Remparts. "It's a real pleasure to be associated with a partner who shares our vision and who cares about the interests of the players and of the public."
The Québec City Remparts will take on the Rimouski Océanic at the Pepsi Coliseum at 7:00 p.m. tonight. Don't miss it!
About the Remparts
The Remparts team has been owned by Michel Cadrin, Patrick Roy and Jacques Tanguay since 1997; that was the beginning of a new era for the Remparts. Since then, hockey fans in the greater Québec City area have come to know, year after year, a team with a strong tradition of excellence and a prestigious history; a team that also presents a brand image comparable to those of professional teams. The Remparts market represents a potential clientele of more than half a million people. With a population of 700,000, Québec City and its suburbs account for 9% of the province's total population. The Remparts are identified with the Québec City metropolitan area and have managed to develop a feeling of belonging among the population of the entire region. The Québec City Remparts are the city's junior hockey team and one of the major sports attractions there. In 2007-2008, for the second season in a row, this junior team set a new record for the Québec Major Junior Hockey League and a new benchmark for the Canadian Hockey League by attracting the largest number of fans in the League's history, with a total of 390,711 tickets sold and an average of 11,163 spectators per game.
