The department store chain has set the opening dates for its new stores, at 640 Lakestone Commons Ave. in Fuquay-Varina and 302 Hinton Oaks Blvd. in Knightdale. Both will open Oct. 1.
The new stores will bring the state's number of Kohl's stores to 26.
And the retailer isn't showing any signs of slowing.
Kohl's has signed on to anchor the new phase of the Wake Forest Crossing center off Capital Boulevard, near Durham Road.
The new phase of the shopping center will add 200,000 square feet to the existing center, which is anchored by Lowes Foods.
Site work has started, and Kahn Development Co. says there are no leases signed yet for the remainder of the center. The center is projected to open in fall 2009.

In time for the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Sweet Loralee Pastries in Wake Forest received kosher certification of its pastries and cakes. The four-year-old bakery is in The Factory at 1839 S. Main St. It also has a kiosk at the N.C. State Fairgrounds flea market on weekends.

Florida Tex-Mex chain Tijuana Flats is expanding into the Triangle. Tijuana Flats will open its first area store in Raleigh's Quail Corners at Falls of Neuse and Millbrook roads in early 2009. The company plans to open up to eight stores here in the next four years.

In Morrisville Square, across from Town Hall on Morrisville Carpenter Road, a kids' party venue called The Studio opens this weekend; a restaurant called A Taste of Africa will open in late October; and Fox's Pizza reopened under new management.

In Raleigh's High Park Village, Hunt & Gather is expanding from 7,000 square feet to 11,600 square feet. The store sells estate furnishings, antiques and interior design items and is at Whitaker Mill Road and Bernard Street.

In Clayton: Jack's Detail at 327 W. Main St. has new ownership and is now X-treme-Lee Clean Auto Detailing; Serenity Rug Care is open at 104 N. Lombard St., using green cleaning methods; and El Sabor de Oaxaca closed at 226 E. Main St.
