Corel appoints senior VP to head Asian operations

Sep 22, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- CREL | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Corel Corporation (Nasdaq:CREL) (TSX:CRE), a developer of graphics, productivity and digital media software, announced on 22 September the appointment of Kazuo Sakai as senior vice president of its Asia Pacific and Japan operations and as president of Corel Japan.

Prior to joining Corel, Sakai held senior executive positions at Microsoft, where most recently he served as program vice president, Digital Entertainment Partner Group. He has also worked for AMD in the Asia Pacific area.

Sakai will assume responsibility for Japan sales and marketing and will later expand his role to include oversight of Corel's sales and marketing activities in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, China, Korea (ANSEACK) and Taiwan.
