Kroger's Family of Stores Salute 'Top Women in Grocery'

CINCINNATI, Sept 22, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- KR | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) is honored to recognize 35 leaders who were named "Top Women in Grocery" this year by Progressive Grocer, a leading industry publication.

"Kroger's impressive list is a tribute to the spirit of diversity that is gaining traction throughout the food industry -- especially among supermarket operators -- which in our minds makes retailing a much more rich and effective enterprise that reflects an increasingly diverse consumer base," said Stephen Dowdell, editor-in-chief of Progressive Grocer.

Of the 90 women selected from hundreds of nominations throughout the industry, including retailers, suppliers and wholesalers, 35 work in Kroger's family of stores.

Top Women were recognized in three categories: Senior Executives, Rising Stars and Store Managers.
