Danish wind turbines maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S wins new order in Brazil

Sep 23, 2008 (NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT via COMTEX) -- VWSYF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Danish wind turbines manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (OMX Copenhagen:VWS) said on Monday (22 September) that it has received an order for 17 wind turbines from Gargau Energetica SA, a subsidiary of the Brazilian company Ecopart Investimentos Ltda.

The order covers supply, installation and commissioning of V82-1.65 MW wind turbines and the VestasOnline Business SCADA system for the Gargau project in the north-western part of the Rio de Janeiro state.

The order is Vestas Wind Systems' second Brazilian order this year.

The financial details of the order were not disclosed.

Vestas Wind Systems, headquartered in Randers, Denmark, is the world's largest wind turbines manufacturer with some 35,000 wind turbines installed. The company has over 15,300 employees worldwide and reported sales of EUR4.86bn in 2007.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.26 euros (EUR).
