Valero Energy appoints new board member

Sep 24, 2008 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- VLO | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Valero Energy has appointed Stephen Waters, managing partner of Compass Advisers, to Valero's board of directors.

Mr Waters, who becomes Valero's 11th board member, will serve on the board's finance committee.

Mr Waters is also a board member at Boston Private Financial Holdings, the Boston University School of Public Health, the United States Naval Institute and Harvard University's Committee on Student Excellence and Opportunity. He is also CEO of the Compass Partners European Equity Fund.

Bill Klesse, chairman and CEO of Valero Energy, said: "We are honored that Steve has agreed to join our board of directors. He is well-respected and has a broad knowledge of business and financial issues, and he brings a wealth of experience."
