As early as 2007, the government of Pingshan County, Northwest Shijiazhuang, formed a partnership with the Shijiazhuang Branch of China Life Insurance Co., Ltd. (SEHK: 2628; NYSE: LFC; SHSE: 601628) to provide the large-amount medical insurances for 364,000 rural residents participating in the new rural cooperative medical scheme (NCMS).
The medical expense reimbursement threshold is fixed at CNY 60,000. 80% of the total expenses these rural residents pay for medical treatment will be reimbursed, if they see a doctor in the NCMS appointed medical institutions. The large-amount medical insurance system had reimbursed 35 people for their aggregately expenses of CNY 773,600.
At the inception of this year, the Shijiazhuang government began to promote Pingshan's large-amount medical insurance experience in 17 counties and county-level cities.
